FUNDAMENTALS | U7/U8

Our FUNdamentals program is designed to introduce our aspiring young players to the basic fundamentals of skill development. They will participate in small groups with a focus on developing a level of confidence and competence through maximum contact with the ball. All this takes place in a fun and positive environment to keep them engaged and eager to participate. We offer spring and fall sessions of this program and each session runs for approx. 12 weeks with 2 practices per week. Practices are 60 mins in duration and are led by qualified Tzeachten FC staff and trained parent volunteers.

TEAM UP! | U9/U10

Our Team Up program is designed to introduce players to the “team” concept. They are now at an age where they begin to embrace the concept of playing as a team and recognizing goals can be achieved by working together. For the first time we will place our players into teams from the very start of the program. They will practice and play together throughout the season. At practices we will continue to develop their fundamentals and also begin to introduce some of the very basics of team play and positions.

This program runs from early September until the end of February. Players will participate twice weekly with one practice day and one game day per week. The teams will be collectively overseen by Tzeachten FC Staff who will support the volunteer team parent coaches.

DEVELOPMENT | U11/12

Considered the “golden age of learning,” this is an age when players continue to embrace the “team concept” and the rewards it can bring. They are at an age where they are more able to reflect on their actions and learn from mistakes. Players will continue to develop the technical side of the game, but with the addition of more emphasis on competency with and without the ball as a team and as individuals. Players are selected to the Development level via an evaluation process in the spring. Our U11/12 Development teams will train twice weekly through the fall & winter season with weekend games from early September through to early March. Focus continues to be player centered as they progress through these key learning years in a challenging and competitive environment. All coaches at this level of play are BCSA Certified.

COMMUNITY KICKS | U11-U18

Our Community Kicks program is intended as a recreational program geared towards players who simply want to play the game in a more relaxed and fun environment and prefer to play all of their soccer within their own community. It is an ideal environment for our newer soccer players to learn the game and fall in love with it. Players will play weekly matches through the fall on Saturdays or Sundays in addition to weeknight group practices where they can develop their skills. Games will be small sided (5v5 to 8v8) to encourage more contact with the ball from all participants.

DEVELOPMENT | U13-U18

This program is a continuation of our Development U11-U12 program. Players continue to be selected through an evaluation process. Players transition to 11 a side matches on a full field. They enter a different stage of their development. They begin to learn more advanced skills and gain more knowledge in the tactical and positional side of the game as they progress through the age groups. Players also deal with their own physical growth as adolescents in these ages and so endurance and SAQ (speed, agility, quickness) training is emphasized more.

SEABIRD ISLAND COMMUNITY SOCCER PROGRAMMING | U5-U16

This past spring our club partnered with Seabird Island Band Community School to launch a soccer program that tied into their elementary school curriculum and also an after school program that provided access to soccer specific training for older indigenous children up to the age of 15. The overall goal was to provide easy access to more structured soccer programming for indigenous children without having to leave their community. Our staff coaches adopt a culturally sensitive approach to the weekly practices in the indigenous communities with the goal of building a long term love for the game within the youth. Their ability to connect with and engage the children throughout the program has established strong ties between our club and the Seabird Island community and we look forward to continuing to nurture our partnership going forward. We are excited to progress with our first fall program within the community starting in September.
